About Me

I’m Jenni Walford, founder of Provokarte. I’ve lived in Spain since 2002 and worked for over twenty years in education, business training, and therapy. I started my career teaching English and running workshops that helped professionals communicate with confidence. Over time, I began to see patterns that went far beyond language. I saw how power and persuasion work, how ideas get repackaged as “growth”, and how easily we can lose sight of ourselves when systems promise transformation.

My work now focuses on helping people recognise how control and manipulation appear in personal development, therapy, and workplaces, and how to stay grounded and free within them. Many of these environments borrow from psychology and spirituality but twist those ideas to create dependency, guilt, or pressure to conform. I help people understand what happened, find language for their experience, and recover their clarity and confidence.

I’ve always been curious about what draws people to groups that claim to have the answers. I’ve explored everything from Bible study meetings and mindfulness circles to Gestalt training and corporate “culture change” consultancies. Some were genuinely helpful, others crossed ethical lines. Each taught me something about how influence works and how good intentions can turn into systems of control.

Provokarte grew out of all of this. It brings together critical thinking, creativity, and lived experience to help people rebuild trust in their own judgement. I believe art, writing, and reflection can do what manipulation never can: help us see clearly, connect honestly, and learn on our own terms.

My Mission and Vision

I help frustrated professionals, union reps, and anyone tired of being manipulated by corporate training, HR schemes, or wellness fads to recognise cult dynamics, protect themselves from coercion, and choose healthier alternatives, so they can keep learning and working without being humiliated or controlled.

If you’ve ever thought “this feels more like an initiation than training,” or left a workshop feeling euphoric, exposed, and blamed for problems you didn’t create, you’re not imagining it – I know exactly what you mean. I’ve spent over twenty years teaching and facilitating in workplaces, coaching rooms, and therapy settings.

I’ve also lived through the manipulation myself, which is why I can name the tactics others gloss over: euphoric highs, trance-like exercises, jargon that dissolves consent, “you caused your illness” narratives, and Ponzi-style coaching funnels. Provokarte is where I bring that experience together – critical analysis, arts-based creativity, and ethical tools – so you can see through the manipulation, call it out, and demand something better.
